Belc operates more than 140 supermarkets primarily in Saitama Prefecture. By “standardizing” store layouts and operational procedures, we are able to maintain high profitability and ensure that employees can work efficiently at any store, creating stores where customers can shop with a peaceful mind.
In 1959, the first store was opened under the name “Housewife's Store” in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture. Over time, the company expanded its store network, primarily in Saitama Prefecture. Focusing on the densely populated Kanto region, Belc has grown into a leading supermarket chain, known for its top-tier growth and profit margins in the industry.
Belc specializes in food supermarkets with a standard sales floor area of 600 tsubo. We are working to standardize and simplify store development and operations. In addition, by optimizing the allocation of personnel, we have built an operating structure that enables us to operate without wasting or overworking. This enables us to provide a stable sales floor, improve efficiency and productivity, and above all, provide an optimal working environment for our employees.
The supermarket industry still has great potential for digitalization. Belc is developing systems by our own engineers to meet the needs of both customers and employees. We aim to be the No.1 digitally advanced company in the industry. In online services, we operate the Belc App, the “Belc (Otodoke) Delivery Pack” online supermarket, an e-commerce site, and an official social networking service as online services.
Belc's system engineers frequently communicate with staff in other departments to clarify requirements and develop systems. Office space is meticulously designed and equipped with casual meeting spaces in order to create an environment where people can easily consult with each other and come up with creative ideas.

Web application development: Front-end is developed using JavaScript and TypeScript. The Back-end is developed using .NET and C#. Visual Studio is used as an IDE.
Smartphone application development: Swift is used for development. Xcode is used as IDE.
The database is mainly developed using Oracle and PostgreSQL.
